![]() For your website to be successful, it will need to be promoted. You probably spend a lot of money on printed materials promoting your business or service. Your website is no different. It will be designed to promote your business or service therefore you need to promote it. This is assuming your site has been designed for that reason. Once the traffic comes, your website will begin to work the way it is suppose to. A website that doesn't get promoted is the same as a business card that never gets handed out. It will not do anything for your business if you don't give it out. Most of the time it will take up to a year to move up in the search rankings. That is only if you promote your site effectively. The first step is to make sure the site is search engine friendly. That is where a designer will come in handy. Another good attention getting is through press releases. Here are some other good promoting techniques. • Submit website to relevant directories • Build back links. A back link is a link to your website from another site. These are only effective from quality sites that have relevant information to your site. • Use social networking to gain more traffic. Use Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, Linked In, and others. • Write articles relevant to your business/service and submit them to article directories. Be sure to include a back link to your site in the resource box. • Attach your web address everywhere you go. Put it in your forum signature, email signature, anytime you comment.
