It doesn't matter if you are a hair stylist, a realtor, or a carpet cleaner. Social Networking can help your business grow. Let's face it. Myspace, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, and others are here to stay. Most if not all of these are household names by now and almost everyone with a computer has an account with at least one of them. One of the only problems with having your own website is not knowing how to bring people to it. Social networking sites are the answer to that! I know it seems like a lot to keep your profiles maintained, but it will pay off in the end if you stay active with them. These sites are basically offering a free advertising service for yourself and your business. Why not take advantage of it. One advantage social networking has over any other form is the target audience feels like they know you by reading over your profile. And one true fact. People buy from the most trustworthy person. Here are some tips to get you started.
1. Don't try to do them all at first. Get established in the top 5 and then add more. Facebook is currently the highest ranking of the social networking sites. Followed by MySpace, YouTube, Hubpages, Twitter, LinkedIn, & StumbleUpon. 2. A blank account is useless. It may even hurt you more than help. If you don't even fill out the necessary profile information, it may label you as lazy. 3. Participate! That means photo albums, messaging, joining groups, whatever it is that particular site has for its members to do. 4. Post a helpful article about something pertaining to your business. If you are realtor, write an article with tips to picking the perfect home or if you are a carpet cleaner, "How to get red kool-aid out" 5. Make some friends. Look for others with the same interests as you or that are in the same field as you. 6. Make positive comments on others pages and photos. 7. Post a few times a week just to keep you fresh on your friends minds. That way the next time they need your particular product or service, just maybe they'll come to you first. 8. When someone requests friendship, be sure to accept it. That is a possible customer. 9. Keep your profile fresh and clean. Don't leave them outdated. 10. When you do post, it's not a good idea to make them "Come Buy My Product". Instead give something useful or helpful.
